Medical staff in Romania have launched a warning strike
Hundreds of hospitals across Romania have recently been affected by a warning strike organized by medical staff. This protest action was triggered by employees in the healthcare system in response to grievances regarding new salary regulations.
Protesters argue that the new remuneration law does not correctly reflect the responsibilities and effort put in by doctors, nurses, and auxiliary staff. They are demanding a revision of the salary scale to ensure fairer income and better working conditions in hospital units.
During the warning strike, activity in hospitals was partially limited. However, authorities stated that medical emergencies were treated as a priority so as not to endanger the lives of patients who needed immediate care.
Representatives of healthcare unions have stated that they are open to dialogue with Government representatives to find solutions to the issues raised. If their demands are not taken into consideration, they do not rule out the possibility of organizing larger-scale protests in the coming period.
