Romania, among the lowest in the European Union in terms of physical activity
A new Eurobarometer report published recently shows a change in the lifestyle of European citizens. According to the collected data, 38% of Europeans state that they play sports or exercise several times a week, an increase of 6% compared to the study conducted four years ago. This trend indicates a growing concern among the population for health and movement.
However, Romania continues to occupy a worrying position in this ranking. Although constant progress is observed at the European Union level regarding the adoption of an active lifestyle, our country is once again among the member states with the lowest percentages of participation in sports activities.
Specialists warn that the lack of regular physical activity can have negative long-term consequences on public health. Sedentary behavior is associated with numerous medical problems, which is why European authorities encourage the promotion of sports in schools, at the workplace, and in local communities.
In conclusion, although Europeans are becoming increasingly active, Romania needs more effective strategies to encourage citizens to exercise. Adopting a healthy lifestyle remains a major challenge for Romanian society, with sustained efforts needed to improve these statistics in the years to come.
