MFA Rejects Iran's Accusations & NATO Alerts
Romania is facing diplomatic tensions and security warnings on NATO's eastern flank. Simultaneously, an extreme heatwave is affecting Europe, and Ukraine is intensifying its military strategy against Russia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has officially rejected Iran's accusations, which claimed that Romania participated in an "aggression" against it. Tehran cited statements from NATO leadership to implicate Romania and Italy in its conflict with the US, but the authorities in Bucharest clarified that the country was not part of these hostilities.
This dispute arises as Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warns countries bordering Russia, including Romania, to prepare for a possible escalation of tensions in the coming months. Also in the region, Ukraine has launched a 40-day plan that gives its secret services the freedom to strike targets inside Russia, thereby attempting to force peace negotiations.
Beyond security risks, the extreme heatwave is causing casualties in Europe, with at least 212 deaths reported in Spain and thousands of schools closed in France. The heatwave continues to spread across the continent, affecting daily activities and public health.
