The government has approved the budget for the School Program for the 2026-2027 school year
The Romanian government has recently adopted an important decision regarding the funding of the School Program for the 2023-2029 period. This initiative aims to support healthy nutrition among students across the country through the distribution of essential food products.
According to the official decision, the budget allocated for the 2026-2027 school year has been set at 802,447,000 lei. This amount represents approximately 157.4 million euros and will be used to ensure the continuity of the program in pre-university educational institutions.
The School Program's main goal is to encourage the consumption of fruits, vegetables, milk, and dairy products among children. Through this financial support, the authorities aim to promote healthy eating habits from an early age and reduce the risk of malnutrition or obesity among students.
The funds will be distributed to county and local councils, which are responsible for organizing tenders for the supply of products. The authorities emphasize that the products offered must comply with the quality and food safety standards imposed at both the national and European levels.
This long-term investment reflects the Romanian state's commitment to supporting the education and health of students.
