The Ministry of Defense has received the first COBRA II armored vehicles manufactured in Romania
The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) recently announced the receipt of the first COBRA II armored vehicles that were produced directly on Romanian territory. This delivery represents an important step in modernizing the country's military equipment and strengthening national defense capabilities.
In total, 12 such vehicles were delivered to the Romanian authorities during the month of July. Production of these armored vehicles began in 2026, following a strategic partnership aimed at developing the local defense industry and reducing dependence on imports of military equipment from abroad.
COBRA II vehicles are internationally recognized for the high level of protection they offer crews, being capable of withstanding difficult terrain conditions and combat situations. They are equipped with modern technology, making them suitable for patrol, reconnaissance, and secure troop transport missions.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to equip the Romanian Army with state-of-the-art equipment. Authorities emphasized that manufacturing these vehicles in the country contributes not only to national security but also to the creation of new jobs in the industrial sector.
As production continues, the number of armored vehicles entering the MApN's inventory is expected to increase in the coming period. This investment reflects Romania's constant efforts to align its armed forces with current NATO standards.
