Romania becomes a strategic hub for military aviation: pilots from Peru will be trained at Borcea
Romania is consolidating its role as a strategic hub within NATO and international defense partnerships. Recently, the American company Lockheed Martin announced that military pilots from Peru will come to our country to undergo specialized training programs on F-16 fighter jets.
This decision comes in the context of the South American state signing a contract for the purchase of 12 F-16 aircraft. To operate these modern aircraft efficiently, Peruvian pilots require rigorous training, which they will receive at the European F-16 Training Center (EFTC) located at the Borcea Air Base.
The center at Borcea was created to support the training of pilots from allied and partner countries that use this type of aircraft. By hosting these exercises, Romania demonstrates its logistical and technical capacity to provide expertise at international standards, thereby contributing to global air security.
This collaboration underscores the growing importance of military facilities in Romania on the international defense map. The presence of foreign pilots at training sessions in our country confirms that the infrastructure at Borcea has become a benchmark for F-16 pilot training worldwide.
