Criminal case initiated against German journalist in Russia
The Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a criminal investigation into a German journalist. The reason for this was his behavior during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the interaction with the press, the journalist from Germany asked the Ukrainian leader how European countries could help Ukraine in destroying Russian military personnel. This question caused a wide public outcry and became the reason for an official reaction from the Russian authorities.
Russian law enforcement agencies classified the journalist's statement as actions aimed at inciting hatred and enmity. In connection with this, a decision was made to initiate a criminal case within the framework of the current legislation of the Russian Federation.
At the moment, details of the investigation are not being disclosed. Representatives of the Russian authorities emphasize that such calls for violence are unacceptable in international journalistic practice and will be prosecuted under the law.
