Russian Foreign Ministry expresses concern over deployment of US nuclear weapons in Europe
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement regarding the presence of American nuclear weapons on the territory of European Union countries. Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Belousov emphasized in an interview with the RT television channel that this issue remains one of the most serious problems in the sphere of international security.
According to the Russian diplomat, the deployment of US nuclear arsenals in European countries creates additional risks for stability in the region. Moscow considers such actions unfriendly and notes that they negatively affect the general climate of trust between Russia and Western states.
The Russian foreign policy agency has repeatedly stated that such a policy contradicts efforts toward nuclear non-proliferation. Russia is calling for the withdrawal of American nuclear munitions from European territory, believing that this would be an important step toward reducing tensions.
