The Kremlin comments on the prospects for Russia-Hungary relations
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has issued a statement regarding the current state of Russian-Hungarian relations. Despite existing diplomatic difficulties, Moscow has expressed hope for the continuation of a constructive dialogue with Budapest.
Maintaining economic cooperation remains the primary priority for the Russian side. According to Peskov, it is precisely these pragmatic business ties that can serve as a foundation to prevent relations between the two countries from deteriorating further in the current political climate.
Hungary is currently one of the few European Union member states that continues to maintain regular contact with the Russian leadership. Budapest has repeatedly emphasized the importance of energy cooperation and the preservation of communication channels to address pressing issues.
Nevertheless, experts note that external pressure on Hungary from other EU countries creates additional obstacles to bilateral cooperation. Moscow is closely monitoring developments, emphasizing that economic interests should remain outside the scope of political disagreements.
In the near future, the parties will continue consultations to find ways to minimize the impact of diplomatic conflicts on trade and economic projects. The stability of these ties remains an important factor for both countries amidst global instability.
