Russia to change the remuneration system for medical workers
The Russian government has announced a large-scale reform of the remuneration system in the healthcare sector. New rules are planned to be implemented across the country by 2027. The main goal of the changes is to make the incomes of doctors and medical staff more stable and transparent.
According to the new requirements, the fixed salary must account for at least 50% of a medical worker's total wages. Currently, in many regions, the base portion of the salary is significantly lower, and the primary income is formed through various bonuses and incentives that are not always guaranteed.
In addition to increasing the base salary share, the reform involves clear regulation of incentive payments. This will help avoid large income disparities between specialists working in different constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The authorities expect that such measures will help retain qualified personnel in state medical institutions.
Preparations for the transition to the new system will begin in the near future. Over the next three years, relevant ministries will develop unified standards for salary accrual. It is expected that the implementation of the project will increase the prestige of the medical profession and improve working conditions in the Russian healthcare system.
