Russian banks unblock Slovak citizen's accounts following media inquiry
Slovak citizen Jan Gejdos, who currently resides in Russia, encountered unexpected difficulties while using his bank cards. All of the foreigner's accounts were blocked, leaving him without access to his personal funds and the ability to pay for daily expenses.
The situation was resolved after Jan Gejdos reached out to the Business FM editorial office for help. Journalists examined the circumstances of the case and sent the relevant inquiries to the financial institutions. Shortly thereafter, the banks reconsidered their decision and restored access to the client's cards.
According to experts, such blocks often occur due to strict internal control rules at banks. Financial organizations are required to verify the transactions of foreign citizens in order to comply with anti-money laundering laws. Sometimes, automated security systems mistakenly flag legal transactions as suspicious.
This case demonstrates the importance of responding promptly to bank account issues and seeking support in the event of unjustified restrictions. At the moment, all of Jan Gejdos's financial transactions are proceeding normally, and the banks have no further claims against him.
