Russian oil refinery throughput hits 21-year low
According to Bloomberg data, the average throughput of Russian oil refineries decreased significantly in July 2026. The figure fell to 3.91 million barrels per day, marking the lowest level in the last 21 years.
Experts note that the current situation in the petroleum product market is complex. The decline in domestic oil refining volumes directly impacts the overall economic landscape and the availability of fuel for domestic consumption.
Analysts attribute the drop in performance to several factors, including scheduled maintenance at a number of major facilities, as well as external restrictions that the Russian energy industry has faced in recent years.
The situation remains under close scrutiny by specialists, as oil refining is one of the key sectors of the Russian economy. Future developments will depend on how quickly refineries can restore their previous production rates and overcome the technical and logistical difficulties that have arisen.
