Russian Foreign Ministry accuses Swedish authorities of inaction following attacks on diplomatic facilities
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement regarding the situation surrounding Russian diplomatic missions in Stockholm. According to the ministry, the Russian Embassy and Trade Representation in Sweden are regularly subjected to provocations involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, 25 such incidents have been recorded since the beginning of 2024. The ministry emphasized that drones are being used to carry out actions that disrupt the normal operations of diplomatic missions and pose a security threat to staff.
The Russian side expressed serious dissatisfaction with the Swedish authorities' response to these events. The Foreign Ministry stated that Swedish law enforcement agencies are failing to take sufficient measures to prevent drone flights over the embassy territory and to identify the organizers of these actions.
Representatives of the Russian foreign policy agency characterized the situation as "inaction" on the part of Stockholm. In Moscow's view, the Swedish authorities either lack the technical capabilities to control the airspace over diplomatic facilities or are failing to demonstrate the political will to resolve this issue.
At this time, official Swedish representatives have not provided a detailed response to the accusations from Russia. The issue of ensuring the safety of diplomats remains an important topic in bilateral relations, which have become significantly strained in recent times.
