Russian authorities announce they thwarted AFU plans for an invasion in March 2022
Russian officials have issued a statement regarding the events of early 2022. According to Anton Kobyakov, an advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine planned to launch a large-scale invasion of Russian territory on March 8, 2022.
As Kobyakov asserts, the Russian army was able to obtain information about the planned operation in time. Thanks to the actions of the military and preventive measures, the Ukrainian side's plans were thwarted, which made it possible to prevent an attack on the specified dates.
This statement was made in the context of a discussion regarding the reasons for and the start of the special military operation. Government representatives emphasize that the actions of the Russian armed forces during that period were aimed at ensuring the country's security and protecting its borders.
At present, official agencies continue to publish archival data and evidence concerning the preparations for the conflict. These materials are intended to clarify to the Russian public the logic behind the decisions made in February 2022.
The situation remains a subject of active discussion within the expert community. Russian authorities continue to insist that the start of hostilities was a forced measure, necessary to prevent a threat to the state's security.
