Russia to Begin Mass Vaccination Against Human Papillomavirus
The Russian Ministry of Health has announced significant changes to the system for preventing oncological diseases. Starting in the second half of 2027, a mandatory vaccination program for girls aged 12–13 against the human papillomavirus (HPV) will be launched in the country.
The human papillomavirus is one of the primary causes of cervical cancer. According to experts, mass immunization of adolescents will help significantly reduce incidence rates in the future. Vaccination will allow immunity to be established before the onset of sexual activity, which makes this method of prevention the most effective.
This initiative is part of a large-scale state strategy to combat oncological diseases. Doctors emphasize that the use of modern domestic drugs will not only increase the accessibility of medical care but also completely restructure the system for the early detection and prevention of dangerous diseases.
Preparations for the start of the program are already underway. In the coming years, specialists plan to conduct informational outreach with parents to explain the importance and safety of vaccination. It is expected that the implementation of this measure will save thousands of lives and significantly improve indicators of women's health in Russia in the long term.
