Russian Ministry of Health expands list of rare diseases
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has officially updated the list of orphan, or rare, diseases. Changes have been made to this list that affect thousands of patients across the country. The list now includes four new nosologies, which will allow the state to provide necessary support to a larger number of people.
Orphan diseases require a special approach to treatment and expensive medications. The inclusion of a disease in the official Ministry of Health list means that patients can count on state funding for therapy and the provision of necessary medicines at the expense of budget funds.
Experts note that expanding the list is an important step for the healthcare system. It allows doctors to make accurate diagnoses more quickly and prescribe modern treatments that were previously inaccessible to many patients due to the high cost of the drugs.
In the near future, the agency plans to continue working on improving the system of assistance for people with rare pathologies. The authorities emphasize that the accessibility of medical care for all citizens of Russia remains one of the main priorities of state policy in the field of healthcare.
