Proposal in Russia to increase payments to doctors in rural areas

The leader of the A Just Russia — For Truth party, Sergey Mironov, has put forward an initiative to support medical workers in the regions. He proposed doubling the amount of one-time payments under the federal "Zemsky Doctor" and "Zemsky Feldsher" programs.

According to current rules, doctors and paramedics who move to work in rural areas or small towns receive monetary compensation. These funds help specialists settle into their new location and serve as an important incentive for working in remote parts of the country.

If the initiative is adopted, the payment amount for doctors could increase to two million rubles, and for paramedics to one million rubles. According to the author of the proposal, increasing financial support will help attract more qualified personnel to state hospitals and clinics, which are currently experiencing staff shortages.

The "Zemsky Doctor" and "Zemsky Feldsher" programs have been operating in Russia for several years and have shown their effectiveness in combating the shortage of doctors. Increasing payments could be a new step toward improving the quality and accessibility of medical care for residents of rural areas across the country.
