The Russian microelectronics market: demand forecast until 2036
The Russian microelectronics industry is preparing for a significant increase in demand for semiconductor components over the next decade. According to recent analytical data, the need for chips will steadily increase, posing new and serious challenges for the state and technology companies.
According to expert forecasts, by 2030, the demand for silicon wafers in Russia will range from 1.2 to 1.4 million units. In the long term, by 2036, this figure could double and reach 1.6–1.8 million wafers. In monetary terms, the market volume by that time is estimated at 1.4–1.5 trillion rubles.
However, analysts point to an important problem: about 70% of current demand is for technologies that remain inaccessible for domestic production at this time. This creates a reliance on imports and necessitates finding ways to develop domestic production capacities and master modern technological processes.
Developing microelectronics is a strategically important direction for Russia's technological sovereignty. Increasing demand requires not only significant financial investments but also the training of qualified personnel, as well as the creation of modern infrastructure for manufacturing high-tech products.
In the coming years, the industry will need to transition from planning to the implementation of large-scale projects. Success in this direction will allow Russia not only to satisfy the internal needs of the economy but also to reduce the risks associated with restricted access to foreign technologies.
