Volume of state support for small and medium-sized businesses has decreased in Russia
In the first half of 2026, Russian entrepreneurs faced a reduction in direct financial assistance from the state. According to the latest data, the total volume of support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from January to June decreased by 17.4% compared to last year.
In monetary terms, the amount of allocated funds totaled 32.9 billion rubles. Experts note that this is a significant change for a sector that traditionally relies on government subsidies and preferential programs to develop its business.
Despite the overall reduction in funding, the number of companies and individual entrepreneurs receiving assistance remains significant. Government agencies continue to analyze the efficiency of budget fund distribution in order to optimize expenditures under current economic conditions.
For many small business representatives, state support is an important tool for covering operating expenses and launching new projects. A reduction in funding volume may require entrepreneurs to seek alternative sources of capital, such as loans or private investments.
At the moment, relevant departments are not providing long-term forecasts regarding whether the previous level of support will be restored in the second half of the year. Business owners are advised to closely monitor changes in regional and federal assistance programs.
