Vladimir Putin supports involving volunteers with 'D' category in regional work
Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a proposal to involve volunteers with a 'D' fitness category in the work of regional branches of various organizations. The initiative was put forward by a VGTRK war correspondent, who is also the leader of the United Russia party's election list.
The 'D' category in the Russian military registration system means that a person is deemed unfit for military service due to health conditions. Previously, such citizens could not participate in activities related to mobilization or military structures, even as volunteers.
According to the proposal, volunteers with this category will be able to assist in the rear by performing administrative, humanitarian, or organizational tasks in regional branches. This will allow for the use of the experience and desire of citizens to help society without calling them to perform combat tasks, which are contraindicated for them due to medical reasons.
The President emphasized that this approach will help strengthen the work of regional headquarters and attract more active citizens to socially significant projects. In the near future, relevant departments are to work out the legal mechanisms for implementing this initiative.
This decision is an important step toward involving broad segments of the population in volunteer activities. It is expected that the new rules will allow many people who were previously unable to find an outlet for their efforts due to health restrictions to contribute to the work of regional branches.
