The 'Gosuslugi' portal has restricted access for users with VPN enabled
The Russian state services portal 'Gosuslugi' has begun blocking access for users who utilize VPN (virtual private network) services within the country. Now, when attempting to visit the site with an active VPN connection, users encounter an access error or a warning that the page cannot be loaded.
This new measure affects both the web version of the portal and the mobile application. Experts note that such measures are aimed at enhancing the security of citizens' personal data and protecting state information systems from potential cyber threats from abroad.
For many Russians, a VPN has become a common tool for accessing social networks and foreign resources blocked in Russia. However, to use state services now—for example, to make a doctor's appointment, pay taxes, or process documents—users must temporarily disable their VPN services.
Official agencies have not yet provided detailed comments on whether this measure will become permanent. Users are advised to disable programs that change IP addresses before logging into their personal accounts to avoid issues with authorization and the correct operation of the service.
