Russian Ministry of Transport implements electronic transport documents for businesses
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation held a meeting with representatives of the business community of the Central Federal District. The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the state information system for electronic transport documents (GIS EPD).
At the meeting, ministry experts reminded attendees that the transition to a digital format for processing transport waybills and logbooks began back in 2022. Since that time, the system has operated on a voluntary basis, which allowed the country's largest logistics companies to test all the technical capabilities of the platform.
The main goal of implementing the system is to make the freight transportation process more transparent and faster. Using electronic documents helps companies reduce paper costs, speed up the exchange of information between the sender, carrier, and recipient, and simplify data verification by government agencies.
During the dialogue with entrepreneurs, representatives of the Ministry of Transport answered technical questions and clarified the requirements for working in the system. The specialists emphasized that the digitalization of the industry is an important step for the development of modern logistics in Russia.
It is expected that the experience gained during the system's testing by large businesses will help medium and small enterprises adapt to the new standards more quickly. In the near future, the ministry will continue to conduct consultations for businesses in other regions of the country.
