Russia and Pakistan switch to barter trade
Russia and Pakistan have begun to actively develop economic cooperation by introducing barter trade mechanisms. This step was made possible by a memorandum signed by representatives of the two countries in 2024. The new interaction scheme is aimed at simplifying the process of exchanging goods between the states.
Barter trade involves the direct exchange of goods without the use of monetary funds in the conventional sense. This approach allows the countries to continue active cooperation despite difficulties in international financial settlements. Under the agreement, the parties plan to exchange products that are necessary for the development of their national economies.
Initial shipments of goods under the new system have already begun.
