Russia is testing new 5G communication technology via stratospheric platforms
Russian engineers are continuing their work on creating a unique new-generation communication system. This concerns 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) technology, which allows signals to be transmitted not through standard towers, but through special stratospheric platforms known as "pseudosatellites."
Pseudosatellites are unmanned aerial vehicles capable of remaining at high altitudes in the stratosphere for long periods. They act as relays, providing communication coverage for vast territories, including hard-to-reach areas where the installation of ground-based towers is impossible or impractical.
The development of such a system is of great importance for the country's digitalization. 5G NTN technology will provide stable, high-speed internet and high-quality communication for managing autonomous transport, monitoring infrastructure, and ensuring rapid response in remote regions of Russia.
At the moment, the project is in the testing phase. Specialists are verifying the reliability of data transmission and the system's resistance to external factors. The successful completion of these tests could be a significant step in the development of domestic telecommunications technologies and strengthen the country's technological sovereignty in the field of communications.
