Russia intensifies efforts to block VPN services
Following the conclusion of the elections in Russia, efforts to restrict access to VPN services have significantly intensified. Users across the country have begun reporting frequent disruptions in the operation of popular circumvention tools, making it difficult to access certain foreign internet resources.
The State Duma of the Russian Federation continues to actively discuss and implement measures to control internet traffic. According to official data, nearly 60 billion rubles have been allocated for the development and support of content filtering and cybersecurity systems. These funds are directed toward modernizing equipment that allows for the effective detection and restriction of prohibited protocols.
According to the plans of the relevant agencies, the coverage level of traffic control systems is expected to reach 92% by 2030. This means that the technical capabilities for blocking undesirable resources will be constantly improved, making the circumvention of restrictions an increasingly difficult task for ordinary users.
At the moment, experts note that the situation regarding network access remains unstable. Many users continue to seek alternative connection methods, however, government agencies emphasize the importance of complying with legislation in the sphere of information security.
