Ukraine's Ministry of Health reports strikes on pharmaceutical facilities
The Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Liashko, has issued a statement regarding an increase in the intensity of attacks on the country's pharmaceutical infrastructure. According to the minister, shelling has damaged warehouses and production sites that provided supplies of vital medications to various regions.
In his address, Liashko emphasized that the destruction of such facilities creates serious risks for the healthcare system. He noted that damage to logistics centers hinders the distribution of medicines, including drugs for the treatment of chronic diseases and emergency care. Currently, relevant departments are attempting to restructure supply chains to avoid drug shortages.
The situation in the healthcare sector remains difficult against the backdrop of the ongoing armed conflict. International organizations have repeatedly called on the parties to comply with the norms of humanitarian law, which prohibit attacks on objects necessary for the survival of the civilian population. However, at this moment, the parties continue to exchange accusations of violating these rules.
Ukrainian authorities state that they are doing everything possible to maintain citizens' access to medical care. In regions where warehouses have been damaged, the operation of mobile pharmacy units and temporary storage facilities has been organized. Nevertheless, experts warn that restoring the full operation of the pharmaceutical network will require significant time and resources.
This situation remains under the close attention of the international community. The issue of the safety of civilian infrastructure, including medical institutions and pharmaceutical warehouses, continues to be one of the most pressing topics in the current geopolitical context.
