Russia and China oppose Western position on Iranian nuclear issue at the UN
At a recent UN Security Council meeting, Russia and China expressed their disagreement with the Western countries' approach to Iran's nuclear program. Representatives from Moscow and Beijing emphasized that the current policy of pressuring Tehran does not contribute to solving the problem and could lead to increased tensions in the region.
The Russian side stated that any issues related to the nuclear deal must be resolved exclusively through diplomatic channels. According to the diplomats, attempts by Western states to increase sanctions pressure on Iran do not help restore trust between the negotiating parties. Russia insists that all sides must return to fulfilling the obligations they previously accepted.
China also supported this position, noting the importance of maintaining stability in the Middle East. Beijing called on UN Security Council members to engage in a constructive dialogue and seek compromise solutions that would take into account the interests of all parties. Chinese representatives emphasized that unilateral sanctions are not an effective tool in modern international politics.
Western countries, in turn, expressed concern over the development of nuclear technologies in Iran. They insist on the need for stricter control and transparency of the Iranian program. However, the lack of unity in the UN Security Council makes it difficult to adopt new joint measures on this issue.
The situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear dossier remains one of the most complex topics on the international agenda. Future developments will depend on whether the world's leading powers can find common ground and continue negotiations within the framework of international law.
