Russia closes German cultural centers and consulate general
The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced new restrictive measures against Germany. According to an official statement, the Russian side has decided to close the last German consulate general that was still operating within the country. The activities of cultural organizations known as Goethe-Instituts have also been banned.
This decision came as a response to recent diplomatic and political events related to incidents in Leipzig. Russian authorities emphasized that these measures are a forced step in the current geopolitical situation, which has significantly complicated bilateral relations between Moscow and Berlin.
The closure of the Goethe-Instituts marks the end of educational and cultural venues that had long been involved in promoting the German language and culture in Russia. Many experts note that this event signifies a further reduction in humanitarian ties between the two states.
At the moment, official representatives of Germany have not yet provided detailed comments on how exactly the closure process for the institutions will be carried out. The situation remains tense, and diplomats continue to monitor the development of events that are significantly changing the format of interaction between the countries.
