A Quarter of Russian Hotels Now Accept Guests with Pets
Interest in traveling with pets is growing in Russia. More and more dog and cat owners do not want to leave their pets at home or in specialized hotels during their vacations. Instead, they prefer to take them along on trips across the country, which is creating a new demand in the tourism services market.
According to the latest data, about a quarter of all Russian hotels are already prepared to accommodate guests with pets. This accounts for approximately 9,860 properties out of nearly 40,000 officially operating hotels and guest houses. Such statistics show that the tourism business in Russia is actively adapting to modern customer demands.
Experts note that the popularity of such services has grown significantly over the past few years. Many Russians now view their pets as full-fledged family members. The development of domestic tourism and improved transport accessibility also contribute to people more frequently choosing to travel by car or train with their animals.
However, tourists should remember that each hotel may have its own rules for staying with pets. Some hotels only allow accommodation for small dogs weighing up to 5–10 kilograms. Other properties may request an additional fee for specialized room cleaning after the guest checks out.
Before booking, experts recommend always clarifying the accommodation conditions and the availability of necessary documents, such as a veterinary passport with vaccination records. This will help avoid unpleasant situations during check-in and make the vacation more comfortable.
The number of "pet-friendly" hotels in Russia is expected to continue growing. The development of this sector not only makes travel more accessible for pet owners but also helps raise the overall level of service in the Russian tourism industry.
