Russia's Permanent Mission responds to the introduction of new EU sanctions
The European Union has officially approved another package of restrictive measures against the Russian Federation. The new sanctions affect a number of economic sectors, as well as certain individuals and legal entities. In response to this decision, the Russian mission to the EU issued an official statement, calling the actions of the European authorities counterproductive.
In their commentary, Russian representatives emphasized that such measures do not contribute to resolving existing political disagreements. According to the diplomats, sanction pressure only complicates the dialogue between Moscow and Brussels and negatively affects global economic stability. The Russian side also noted that it continues to analyze the consequences of the adopted restrictions for domestic business.
Experts note that the new sanctions include additional restrictions on the export of technology and dual-use goods. In addition, the lists of persons whose assets within the territory of EU countries are subject to freezing have been expanded. These steps are part of the EU's long-term strategy aimed at changing Russia's foreign policy course.
In turn, the Russian authorities announced their readiness to take retaliatory measures to protect their own interests. The country's government has already begun work on reorienting trade flows to the markets of friendly states and developing domestic production. It is expected that concrete steps to support the affected sectors of the economy will be presented in the near future.
The situation remains tense, as the parties have not yet shown a willingness to reconsider their positions. International analysts continue to monitor the development of events, noting that the current round of sanction confrontation may have long-term consequences for the entire global economy.
