New quality standards for school pens come into force in Russia
Starting September 1, updated state standards (GOST) for writing instruments will come into effect in Russia. The new rules concern the production and quality of ballpoint pens, which are used daily by millions of schoolchildren and students across the country.
The introduction of the GOST 35296-2025 standard is aimed at improving the safety and convenience of school supplies. According to the new requirements, manufacturers must strictly control the quality of the materials used to make the pens, as well as the reliability of the ink delivery mechanisms.
Experts note that such measures will help eliminate the presence of low-quality products on the market that could be harmful or inconvenient to use. Standardization will make the writing process more comfortable for children, which is especially important during periods of intensive learning.
The new rules come into force on a symbolic date — the Day of Knowledge. This highlights the state's attention to the quality of goods necessary for the educational process and its concern for the health of students.
It is expected that the transition to the new standards will be gradual. In the near future, products that fully comply with modern safety and quality requirements will appear in stationery stores.
