Russian scientists increase potato yields using drones
Russian specialists from the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center have successfully applied new technologies in agriculture. Scientists used unmanned aerial vehicles to optimize potato cultivation, which allowed for a significant increase in the yield of this important crop.
During the experiment, the researchers used three specialized drones. These devices are equipped with modern cameras and sensors that allow for monitoring the state of fields in real time. With the help of the data obtained, agronomists can accurately determine which areas of land require more fertilizer or irrigation.
Using drones helps farmers work more efficiently and save resources. Thanks to precise diagnostics of plant health, specialists can detect diseases or pests in time, which prevents crop loss. This approach makes the potato cultivation process more predictable and productive.
The development by Russian scientists is of great importance for the country's food security. Implementing such technologies in mass production will allow farmers to obtain more produce from the same areas. In the future, there are plans to scale this experience to other agricultural crops across Russia.
