New service for messaging prisoners launched in Russia
A specialized messenger designed for communicating with people in places of detention has begun operating in Russia. The developers created the platform to simplify the communication process between prisoners and their loved ones, replacing traditional paper letters with a modern digital format.
The main feature of the new service is a mandatory censorship system. All messages sent by users undergo strict review by correctional facility staff. According to the platform's rules, the moderation process can take up to three business days before a message is delivered to the recipient.
Such digital solutions are becoming increasingly popular in the Russian penitentiary system. Previously, only state electronic reception offices or regular mail were used to communicate with prisoners. The new messenger is intended to make the information exchange process faster and more convenient for both parties.
Experts note that the introduction of such technologies helps maintain the social ties of prisoners with the outside world. However, users should keep in mind that the confidentiality of correspondence in this case is limited by the internal regulations of penal colonies and pre-trial detention centers.
At the moment, the service is already available for use in a number of regions across the country. In the future, the developers plan to expand the application's geographical reach to cover more correctional facilities throughout Russia.
