Russian tourists change their plans: Saint Petersburg has become more popular than southern resorts
This summer, the preferences of Russian travelers have changed noticeably. According to the latest data, familiar routes to the Black Sea are losing their lead to other destinations. In July, tourists are increasingly choosing major cultural centers for their vacations rather than traditional beach resorts.
Saint Petersburg has once again taken first place in popularity among vacationers. This city accounts for 11% of the total number of all tourist bookings. Experts note that the northern capital attracts guests with its architecture, museums, and comfortable weather, which allows them to avoid the summer heat.
At the same time, Sochi, which for a long time remained the main destination for summer vacations, took second place this month. The resort accounts for about 8% of bookings. The average cost of accommodation in Sochi is 5,710 rubles per night, with tourists preferring to stay there for a shorter period than in other cities.
Analysts attribute this shift in priorities to the desire of Russians to diversify their vacations. Many travelers are looking for new experiences and are choosing sightseeing trips instead of classic beach activities. It is expected that this trend will continue until the end of the summer season.
