Irina Rodnina comments on changes in Eteri Tutberidze's group
State Duma deputy of Russia Irina Rodnina has spoken out about recent changes in the world of Russian figure skating. The discussion was prompted by news of figure skater Adeliia Petrosian's move to coach Inna Goncharenko's group.
Irina Rodnina noted that such transfers of athletes from one coach to another are common practice in professional sports. According to her, there have already been many instances in the history of Eteri Tutberidze's group where skaters decided to change mentors and continue their careers in a different team.
Figure skating in Russia remains one of the most popular sports, so any changes in the composition of leading groups cause a wide public resonance. Fans and experts are closely watching how a change of coach might affect the athletes' results in the upcoming season.
At the moment, official representatives of the parties have not yet provided detailed comments on the reasons for this decision. The sports community is waiting to see how the move will affect Adeliia Petrosian's preparation for future competitions and whether it will change her training process.
