Alexander Grushko: Russian Foreign Ministry concerned about increased military activity in Europe
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko commented on the current situation in relations between Russia and European countries. According to the diplomat, European states have recently significantly increased their military activity, which is causing serious concern for the Russian side.
Grushko noted that the rhetoric of Western politicians is becoming increasingly harsh. He emphasized that many European countries are increasing defense spending and conducting large-scale military exercises near Russia's borders. In the opinion of the Foreign Ministry representative, such actions indicate that Europe is preparing for a possible direct conflict.
The Russian side has repeatedly stated that it does not plan to attack NATO countries. However, Moscow believes that the expansion of the Alliance's military presence near Russian borders creates additional threats to the country's security. In response to this, Russia is forced to take measures to protect its interests and strengthen its defense capabilities.
The situation remains tense, as dialogue between Russia and European structures has been practically reduced to a minimum. Experts note that the lack of direct communication between diplomats and the military on both sides increases the risk of accidental incidents.
At the moment, the international community continues to monitor the development of events. It is expected that the parties will continue to exchange official statements in the near future, but there is no word yet on the possibility of reducing tensions in the short term.
