Volodymyr Zelenskyy speaks on the possibility of an energy truce
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a statement regarding the possibility of halting strikes on energy infrastructure. According to the Ukrainian leader, for negotiations on a so-called "energy truce" to begin, the Russian side must provide a clear list of objects that should not be subject to attacks.
This initiative is being discussed against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict, which is having a serious impact on the energy systems of both countries. Zelenskyy emphasized that any agreements in this sphere require specificity and mutual security guarantees for critical civilian facilities.
At the moment, official representatives of the Russian Federation have not provided a detailed response to this proposal. The issue of protecting energy capacity remains one of the most acute, as the lives of millions of civilians and the functioning of social infrastructure depend on the stable operation of power plants.
The international community continues to monitor the situation. Experts note that any steps toward de-escalation in the energy sector could serve as an important signal for reducing tensions; however, at present, both sides are maintaining their positions regarding the conduct of hostilities.
The future of such negotiations remains uncertain. Further developments will depend on the willingness of the parties to engage in direct dialogue and their ability to find compromise solutions regarding infrastructure security.
