Russia plans state grain purchases due to problems at Novorossiysk ports
Russia is facing serious difficulties with the export of agricultural products. The three largest grain terminals located in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk have been forced to temporarily suspend their operations. The reason for the shutdown was damage sustained by infrastructure facilities, which led to disruptions in logistics chains.
In connection with this situation, the Russian government is considering the possibility of conducting state grain purchases. This measure is intended to support the agricultural sector and stabilize the domestic market at a time when export shipments through a key maritime hub have become difficult.
Experts note that Novorossiysk is a vital link in the supply chain for Russian grain to the global market. The suspension of terminal operations could affect shipment volumes and the fulfillment timelines for international contracts. Currently, specialists are assessing the scale of the damage and the time required to restore the port facilities to full operation.
State purchases will help farmers avoid financial losses due to the inability to sell their goods abroad. It is expected that the government will soon present a detailed action plan that will minimize negative consequences for the country's economy and ensure price stability in the domestic grain market.
