Wife of performance artist Pavel Krisevich has left Russia following pressure from security services

The wife of well-known Russian performance artist Pavel Krisevich, Nika Nikulshina, has announced her forced departure from Russia. According to her, the decision to emigrate was made following a series of serious threats and pressure from law enforcement officers.

Nikulshina stated that she had been subjected to administrative arrests twice in recent times. After her second detention, representatives of the FSB summoned her for a conversation and set a strict condition: to leave the country within three days. Otherwise, they threatened her with the initiation of a criminal case.

It is worth noting that Pavel Krisevich himself is currently in custody. He was arrested in the summer of 2021 after staging a performance on Red Square in Moscow, where he fired shots into the air from a blank-firing weapon. His actions were classified as hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon.

The situation surrounding Krisevich's family has caused a wide resonance in human rights circles. Many experts note that such measures of pressure on the relatives of activists are becoming an increasingly frequent practice in the current climate. Nikulshina herself stated that she had not planned to leave, but was forced to comply with the demands of the security services for the sake of her own safety.

At the moment, Nika Nikulshina is safe outside of Russia. She continues to monitor the development of her husband's case and plans to provide him with support remotely, despite the circumstances.
