Russians remain leaders in the number of trips to Armenia in 2026
According to the latest data from the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the country continues to be very popular among foreign travelers. In the first eight months of 2026, nearly 1.5 million people visited Armenia, confirming the country's status as one of the main tourist destinations in the region.
Russian tourists hold the top spot in terms of the number of visits. According to official statistics, citizens of Russia account for about 40% of the total number of guests. In quantitative terms, this amounts to 587,000 people who chose Armenia for vacations or business trips from January to August of this year.
Experts note that the high level of interest from Russians in Armenia is explained by convenient transport links, the absence of a language barrier, and well-developed tourist infrastructure. Furthermore, the popularity of the destination is bolstered by affordable airfares and the variety of cultural programs offered by local tour operators.
The steady flow of travelers from Russia has a positive impact on Armenia's economy, supporting the service sector and the hospitality industry. The Armenian authorities continue to work on improving service to make guests' stays even more comfortable and engaging in the future.
Thus, Armenia remains one of the most sought-after destinations for Russian citizens. It is expected that the number of tourists from the Russian Federation will continue to grow through the end of the year, maintaining Russia's status as Armenia's primary partner in the field of international tourism.
