The Kremlin assesses the prospects for relations between Russia and the European Union

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the current state of relations between Moscow and European Union countries. According to him, the Kremlin currently sees no objective prerequisites for improving dialogue with European partners.

The official Kremlin representative noted that relations are in a deep crisis. The Russian side cites the sanctions policy actively pursued by Brussels as the main reason for this state of affairs. Peskov emphasized that such restrictive measures do not contribute to constructive communication or the resolution of existing problems.

In his statement, Dmitry Peskov also added that Russia is ready for dialogue, but only on an equal basis and with consideration for the country's national interests. However, in the view of the authorities, European countries are not currently demonstrating a willingness to change their political course regarding Moscow.

The situation is complicated by the fact that both sides continue to exchange mutual accusations. While European leaders insist on a change in Russia's behavior, Russian diplomats state that the EU is unwilling to consider Moscow's position on key issues of international security.

Thus, experts do not expect significant changes in diplomatic relations in the near future. The question of when and under what conditions the restoration of cooperation might begin remains open for both sides.
