Ministry of Health to simplify relatives' access to patient medical information | Integri News

The Russian Ministry of Health has approved new rules that will change the procedure for obtaining medical data. Starting in September 2026, close relatives of patients will be able to receive reports and information about the health status of their loved ones based on documents confirming their relationship.

According to the new order, a special power of attorney notarized by a notary will no longer be required to gain access to medical documents. It will be sufficient to present a passport and a document confirming family ties, such as a marriage certificate or a birth certificate.

This measure is aimed at making the process of obtaining medical information more convenient and faster. The ministry notes that the innovation will help families take better care of their loved ones' health, especially in situations where the patient themselves cannot independently contact a medical facility.

The new rules will become part of a general policy of digitalization and simplification of bureaucratic procedures in the Russian healthcare system. It is expected that the changes will help reduce the burden on medical personnel and cut down on paperwork for patients and their families.

Thus, in two years, the procedure for interaction between citizens and medical organizations will become more transparent and accessible. The Ministry of Health plans to carry out preparatory work to ensure that all public and private clinics are ready for the new order by the fall of 2026.
