Russian drug manufacturer begins trials for cancer drug analog
A Russian pharmaceutical company has commenced clinical trials for a new medicinal product. The goal of the trials is to prove the bioequivalence of the Russian drug to the original foreign medication "Xalkori," which is used for the treatment of oncological diseases.
"Xalkori," developed by Pfizer, is a targeted therapy aimed at combating specific types of lung cancer. Such drugs act directly on cancer cells, which allows for more precise and effective treatment.
During the current trials, specialists are comparing the Russian analog with the original. The main task for the scientists is to confirm that the new drug acts in the patient's body in the same way as the foreign counterpart and possesses similar safety and efficacy profiles.
If the clinical trials are successful, the Russian manufacturer will be able to register the generic and launch it on the domestic market. The emergence of a domestic analog could make modern targeted therapy more accessible to Russian patients in need of treatment for oncological diseases.
