Russian diplomat reports mistreatment of prisoners of war
Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made an official statement regarding the situation of Russian prisoners of war. He accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) of using torture and violating international humanitarian standards. This data was presented as part of a report on the crimes of the Kyiv regime.
According to Miroshnik, cases of forced amputation of limbs among prisoners have been recorded. The diplomat also reported that people are being held in harsh conditions, for example, in metal cages under the scorching sun. Such actions cause serious concern among Russian authorities and human rights activists.
The Russian side emphasizes that such methods contradict the Geneva Convention. This international document strictly prohibits all forms of violence, torture, and ill-treatment of soldiers who have ceased participation in hostilities. Compliance with these rules is mandatory for all countries.
Miroshnik noted that Russia continues to collect evidence of crimes for submission to international organizations. All collected evidence and eyewitness accounts are planned to be used in the future for legal proceedings. The diplomat considers it important for the international community to be aware of what is happening.
At this time, there have been no official comments from the Ukrainian side regarding these specific allegations. The situation regarding the rights of prisoners of war remains one of the most acute issues in the current conflict, requiring the attention of international observers.
