Russian Foreign Ministry warns of threats due to South Korea-NATO cooperation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has expressed serious concern regarding the strengthening of ties between South Korea and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). According to Russian diplomats, such a rapprochement could negatively affect the security situation in the Asia-Pacific region and create new risks for Russia.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized that the expansion of NATO's influence beyond Europe raises questions in Moscow. The Russian side believes that drawing Seoul into the alliance's orbit does not contribute to stability on the Korean Peninsula, but rather may lead to increased tensions in relations between neighboring states.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia is closely monitoring the development of this partnership. Moscow calls on all involved parties to consider the security interests of other countries and to avoid steps that could provoke a new arms race or confrontation in the region.
At the moment, experts continue to analyze the potential consequences of this cooperation. South Korea's interaction with NATO includes intelligence sharing, joint exercises, and discussions on cybersecurity issues, which is causing concern not only in Moscow but also in other capitals of the region.
The situation remains a subject of active discussion on the international stage. Russia emphasizes that it will continue to defend its national interests and call for the creation of a system of equal and indivisible security for all countries without exception.
