Russia plans to create 'doomsday data centers'
Rostelecom has put forward an initiative to create special data centers in Russia, which have been dubbed "doomsday centers." These facilities are intended to become the foundation for ensuring the country's digital security in the event of large-scale accidents or emergencies.
The main task of these centers is to preserve critically important information and ensure the continuous operation of government and commercial systems. In the event of serious failures or external threats, data stored in conventional data centers could be at risk. These specialized sites will allow companies to quickly restore access to their services.
According to experts, the creation of such infrastructure is an important step toward protecting Russia's digital sovereignty. Amidst the rise of cyber threats and the economy's dependence on information technology, reliable data storage is becoming a priority for the state and large businesses.
At the moment, the project is in the discussion stage. Rostelecom specialists emphasize that implementing this idea will require the development of new security standards and significant investment in the technical equipment of these sites.
It is expected that the creation of a network of such centers will help minimize the risks of data loss and ensure the stable operation of digital services for millions of Russian citizens, even under the most difficult conditions.
