Russian Foreign Ministry reports facts of ill-treatment of prisoners of war
Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, made a statement regarding the situation with Russian prisoners of war. He reported serious human rights violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This data was presented during a recent interview and concerns the conditions of detention of prisoners.
According to Miroshnik, Russian military personnel who have been captured face extremely cruel treatment. He claims that cases of torture and even forced amputation of limbs have been recorded. The diplomat emphasized that such actions are a gross violation of international norms and the rules of war.
In addition, the statement mentions harsh conditions of detention. Miroshnik said that people are sometimes kept in cages outdoors under the scorching sun. According to him, such methods are used to exert psychological and physical pressure on military personnel.
The Russian side plans to transfer the collected data to international organizations. The main goal of these actions is to draw the attention of the international community to the problem and achieve strict compliance with the Geneva Conventions. The issue of the treatment of prisoners of war remains one of the most complex topics in the current conflict.
At this time, there have been no official comments from the Ukrainian side regarding these specific allegations. International human rights organizations continue to monitor the situation and call on all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law.
