Russia has begun using a new type of jet-powered drone
The Russian army has begun using new jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles in combat operations. According to experts from Defense Express, these devices differ significantly from conventional models such as the Geran or Shahed, and their characteristics are approaching those of cruise missiles.
The main feature of the new drones is their ability to reach high speeds and climb to an altitude of up to seven kilometers. This tactical altitude makes them unreachable for many existing air defense systems, which are designed to counter slower, low-flying targets.
The use of jet engines allows the drones to cover long distances more quickly. This changes the nature of aerial attacks, as the reaction time for air defense systems is significantly reduced. Military analysts note that the transition to jet propulsion is an attempt to increase the effectiveness of strikes in the conditions of modern warfare.
At the moment, specialists continue to study the wreckage of the new vehicles to better understand their design and capabilities. Experts emphasize that the emergence of such technologies requires the adaptation of defense systems and the search for new countermeasures, as the threat from unmanned aviation continues to evolve.
