FSB declassifies documents on Nazi collaborator for the 85th anniversary of the start of the war
For the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has published new archival documents. These materials detail the activities of Ivan Zvigunov, who collaborated with the Nazis during the war years. The declassification of such cases allows historians and the public to better understand the events of that time.
Ivan Zvigunov was one of those who defected to the enemy after the start of hostilities. The archival documents contain his personal testimony, in which he describes his work for the occupation authorities in detail. According to the case files, he participated in operations against the civilian population and Soviet partisans.
After the war ended, Soviet intelligence services began an active search for war criminals and their accomplices. Zvigunov was arrested and interrogated. During the investigation, he spoke about the structure of German intelligence agencies and the methods the Nazis used to recruit local residents to fight against the Soviet Union.
The publication of these documents is timed to coincide with an important historical date. Experts note that studying such archival cases is necessary for preserving historical memory. This helps to see the full picture of the war, including not only the heroism of the defenders but also the difficult chapters of betrayal.
Today, access to such archives is becoming more open to researchers. The FSB regularly continues its work on declassifying materials related to crimes against humanity during the war years. This helps modern society learn lessons from the past and prevent the recurrence of such tragedies in the future.
