Section on Russia reappears on IOC website
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has updated its official website. For the first time since 2023, a section dedicated to the Russian Olympic Committee is once again available on the organization's portal. Previously, this page was inaccessible to users.
At the moment, the section provides general information about the organization's activities and its history. It is important to note that access to the page was restricted in October 2023. At that time, the IOC decided to temporarily suspend the Russian Olympic Committee due to its inclusion of regional sports organizations from the country's new regions.
Despite the return of the section to the website, the status of Russian athletes in international competitions remains unchanged. They may only participate in tournaments under a neutral status, without the use of the national flag, anthem, or other state symbols. This decision was made by the committee previously and remains in effect.
Experts note that the appearance of the page may be a technical update to the website's structure. There have been no official statements from IOC representatives regarding any changes in relations with the Russian sports committee so far.
The situation surrounding the participation of Russian athletes in international events remains one of the most discussed topics in the sports world. Both Russian and foreign sports organizations continue to monitor the development of events.
